Let’s talk hats and hair, ladies. Now I have never been much of a hair wizard and honestly one of the reasons I enjoy wearing hats is because they allow me to be presentable with out having too worry much about doing my hair. Now let's find as many ways to enjoy it AND celebrate showcasing our hair in the hats we own and love.
I am Jewish on my father’s side and Cuban on my mother’s, and let me tell you that hair combination is unruly to say the least. I would like to address that If you happen to be in a phase of life right now where your hair is not as abundant, or you’ve recently undergone a big chop, please let me encourage you to not disqualify yourself from wearing hats. Hair does not make us more or less feminine; or more or less women. So whether you’re Rapunzel or pulling a full on Grace Jones buzz cut, the statement you make wearing a hat is and will always be one of confidence and beauty, regardless of your hair. I have found 3 styles that are my favourite ways to bring together my hair and my hat collection. For me, these create newness and fun when dressing for my days and nights:
Braids: Side braids, double braid, single down the back … no matter which way you choose to wear them, braids are my favourite and easiest way to look like I’ve put in effort with out truly putting in the effort. And with a hat I feel they gain maturity and coolness, loosing the childlike essence they may be associated with, when not wearing a hat. They are my best friend when the dry shampoo can do no more magic or when I need a break from putting heat on my hair. And as you can see they go with any and all hats.

Low bun or tucked all the way inside: Want to celebrate your natural beauty and give every one who graces your presence that gift too? Pull that hair back and show off what your mamma gave you… up there! Yes nothing says bold and beautiful like an all face all hat combo, don’t be shy flash that big grin… and if you have a mask on smize your way through your day!

Hair down and BIG: Did I mention my hair is a beast?? Sometimes you just gotta lean into what you’ve got and call it a day! And for me in this case there’s nothing better than a big hat with big big hair!! Its probably my favourite look and honestly my easiest, I style my hair at the beginning of the week and just let it grow bigger and bigger as the days roll on, the bigger it gets the wider my brims get!
All I can say and all I can encourage is to celebrate what you have naturally because Im here to tell you ITS WORKING FOR YOU! Own it, and trust it ! Enjoy your hats AND your hair, because together hey are lovers not fighters, so celebrate their union and show off that beautiful face! What matters most is what rests underneath the hat. Your hat is always just an enhancement to what is already good, never forget that!
