Behind The Cattleman Crown

Fun facts about the cattleman crown of Block No.13

Behind The Cattleman Crown - Goorin Bros.

The Cattleman crown throughout history has become the quintessential "cowboy hat", though the cowboy hat itself has evolved and updated over time. One of the major changes the "cowboy" hat received was the upturned brim on the sides by ears, so as to be able to better use the lasso rope.

Here at Goorin, we took the classic crown shape and modernized the brim. Hats like Happy Trails has the classic crown but with an elevated ribbon edge binding on the brim. Block No.13 includes hats in merino wool, palm straw and toquilla straw. So there is a cattleman to suit every need, not just your western inspired looks.

Fun fact: Some say there is symbolism behind even the colors of Cattleman crowns: In the 1920's-1940's Western films presented white hats worn by the hero protagonists and black hats by antagonists to symbolize good and evil.
