Block No.28 was birthed from our quintessential style River Gray - well I guess River Grey was birthed from Block No.28 but River Gray certainly made the grand entrance. We love all of our classic blocks but if I had to choose top three of the Goorin-verse, I'd have to go with Block No.26, Block No.25, and Block No.28. Better known as, Dean the Butcher, Colonel Pierce, and River Gray.The Details: 4.5" teardrop shaped crown, similar to that of the Colonel / 2.75" snap brim with a contrasting edge binding- slightly larger than Dean the Butcher who sits at 2.5" and opposite of Colonel which has a 3.25" brim / 100% merino wool for all around softness in texture, and a leather sweatband to keep structure.
River Grey could be one of the most perfect hats - there, I said it! It is the perfect in-between size dimensions to be effortless, yet still make a statement. The edge binding adds an entire flair of sophistication, and the merino wool makes it reflect light absolutely gorgeously. One of the best things about Block No.28 is that it is almost guaranteed to look amazing on any and all face shapes and facial features. At first glance, the pinch in the crown can come off as too tall for the width of the hat, but once you get used to it, you'll find it works. Not too wide, not too dramatic, but just enough oooomph to make people look twice. Back when we had our Nashville shop open, this was the go-to hat for musicians performing on Broadway. It's not western, but not mobster - it can be paired with a suit or added to your plain tshirt and look equally as bad-ass.
This "middle-ground" style is anything but. It screams this person wears hats and has style, without being too overwhelming for any outfit. Block No.28 is a MUST have for your collection.
