Packing 'Packable' Hats

tips + tricks for packing your hats safely.

Packing 'Packable' Hats - Goorin Bros.

One of the first things I think about when packing for a trip is my outfits (duh). And as an avid hat-wearer I think about what hats and how many hats I can pack. Depending on the material and the stiffness of the hat, it could be considered a "packable" style. Often, these are our soft styles such as Dean The Butcher. The softness refers to the material and how malleable it tends to be. Usually these styles are the most comfortable on the head and low maintenance. Essentially, you can be more rough with these ones and the original shape will bounce back with just your hands or maybe a little steam if needed.

Introducing the 4 steps of packing your hat: 1) Pop it up / 2) Flip it down / 3) Fold it down / 4) Roll it Up

Let's break it down: 1) Place your fist in the inside of the crown of the hat and pop up the crown, as if you're punching. 2) Fold the edges in. 3) Make the edges as flattened as possible, almost 2D. 4) Roll the hat to make it look like a seashell spiral. Or like you're rolling a burrito

Throw your rolled up hat into your tote bag, carry-on, even suitcase if you'd like. These styles are pretty resilient but we always recommended packing your hats like that as least often as you can! We want your hat to have longevity and we know you do too, so as long as its not for a super long duration of time or making sure you give it a little love once you get to your destination, your hat will bounce back.  / Check out our video below on how to pack!
