Seasonal Cocktails

The Holiday season feels like it gets longer and longer each year. From decorating the house, to gift shopping, to themed parties and events - it's a lot to handle. For Thanksgiving this year we hosted four friends at our home and to spice up the holiday cheer and de-stress we knew we wanted to have a signature cocktail for everyone to enjoy.

We found this autumnal twist on a classic cocktail from Kitchen Swagger, by Shawn Williams. The ingredients and the instructions are super simple but gives a little bit of that extra cheer.

Applejack Fall Old Fashioned Recipe: 2 oz Laird's Applejack Brandy | 1/4 oz maple syrup | 3-4 dashes black walnut or angostura bitters | 1 orange peel | 1 cinnamon stick
1. Mix maple syrup, bitters & brandy. Fill glass halfway with ice, stir twelve or so times.
2. Strain into rocks glass over a large cubed ice
3. Squeeze and twist orange peel around rim and dunk into the glass
4. Throw in the cinnamon stick for garnish

We loved this cocktail because it felt classic with an edge. That's why we paired it with the River Gray in stone. Block No.28 has such a classic teardrop crown shape, but the ribbon edge binding modernizes it just enough to step it up a notch. It was the perfect match for this Applejack brandy version of an Old Fashioned.
