Designer !Michael K talks Farm Now & Future

After the introduction of these initial Farm patches, it became clear something had clicked with a certain audience. The call of the wild had been heard. Over time more animals were introduced and, once again, Goorin Bros began building an arsenal of not only patches, but material and pattern experiments honing the heart of The Farm. And by the time The Farm hit the world stage on the soccer field, we were ready. By this time, The Farm had already created a well-established cast of unique personalities. The original Rooster had been firmly planted in the Farm catalog, as well as new favorites PANTHER and white TIGER. All of these core styles laid a solid foundation for the Farm to add another layer to our brand.
At the beginning of 2020 The Farm introduced our infamous “Farm Fresh Drops” these styles initially were bold colors of tried-and-true patches. We kicked it all off with three bright colored drops, Chomp Chomp, Freedom LTD, and Electric Tamale. The reaction was almost immediate. It became clear that, among the Farm audience, there were wilder animals hungry for the freshest designs with elevated fabrics. Flash forward to today where, try as we might, we can’t keep our Fresh Drops in stock. 
There was something there. Something worthy in taking a baseball shape, rooted deeply in history. But also, a shape rooted in blue collar culture. There’s a certain magic to taking something created as a freebie billboard and catapulting to the top of a fashion line. If ever there was irony to be told, this was it. Taking the basics and unleashing their wild potential.
Slightly prior to the Fresh Drops, the Farm released Fowl Play. A collection of six truckers on elevated materials, all designed together with intention as a collection. As things moved forward it became clear that these sorts of capsules told another side of the Farm story. A way to express ideas across multiple styles and create these moments. This has proven, time and time again, often to be more thrilling than even our Friday drops with capsules like Fish Bowl and Safari going on to be some of our most beloved releases.
Amidst all of this, the future is wide open for The Farm. The keys have always been to root in our past and learn from it, without letting it dictate the future. As The Farm broadens into shapes beyond our iconic trucker, we’re keeping in mind the same aspects of solid historical foundation and creating fashion pieces meant to survive in the untamed world, and unleash the wild life. -!Michael K
